Project Name/Type: Water Governance Assessment
Client: Peppadew
Location: Limpopo Province, South Africa
In Association with: iWater
Completed: 2019
Categories: water governance and water use licensing
CBSS was subcontracted via iWater (Pty) Ltd to conduct an assessment of the water governance aspects associated with the processing facility where Peppadew International (Pty) Ltd processes and bottles products made from a sweet piquant pepper (a cultivar of Capsicum baccatum). The facility was established in 1996 on a number of properties in the Nkowankowa Industrial Area, approximately 12 km south-east of the town of Tzaneen, in the Limpopo Province.Â
The water governance assessment conducted by CBSS for Peppadew identified opportunities with regard to water savings and water re-use, which, once implemented, will reduce its water footprint, as well as opportunities that will lead to improved compliance with municipal bylaws concerning wastewater disposal to the municipal sewage works.
